Yaadon Ki Baaraat

Yaadon Ki Baraat  (1973) - Music Review
Lyrics - Majrooh
Music - R.D. Burman

  1. Yaadon ki baraat - Lata Mangeshkar, Padmini Kolhapure &  Sushma Srestha
  2. Aap ke kamre mein - Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar & RD
  3. Dil mil gaye - Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar & RD
  4. Chura liya hai tumne - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
  5. Lekar hum deewana dil - Asha Bhonsle & Kishore Kumar
  6. O mere soni - Asha Bhonsle & Kishore Kumar
  7. Yaadon ki baraat - Mohd. Rafi & Kishore Kumar
A complete album from RD. It has romantic duets, dance numbers and a song for a lifetime. I like all the songs of this RD creation, but I will go with 'Chura liya hai tumne' as my favourite. The song, lyrics, music, Rafi & Asha all together makes it a great song. The guitar used in this song as well as the other dance numbers are awesome. I would also like to mention the title track ' yaadon ki baraat' a feel good song, beautifully composed by RD.

Caravan

Caravan  (1971) - Music Review
Lyrics - Majrooh
Music - R.D. Burman

  1. Ab jo mile hain - Asha Bhonsle
  2. Chadti jawani meri - Lata Mangeshkar & Mohd. Rafi
  3. Dilbar dil se pyare - Lata Mangeshkar
  4. Goriya kahan tera desh - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
  5. Hum to hain rahi dil ke - Kishore Kumar
  6. Piya tu ab to aaja - Asha Bhonsle & R.D. Burman
  7. Kitna pyara wada - Lata Mangeshkar & Mohd. Rafi
  8. Daiya yeh mein kahan - Asha Bhonsle
RD's first nomination for filmfare best music director. Caravan had everything from cabret like 'piya tu', 'Ab jo mile hain' to dance numbers like 'chadti jawani' & 'dilbar dil se pyare' and also romantic duets like goriya kahan tera desh, kitna pyara wada.

I love most of the songs and my favourite is 'kitna pyara wada'. A souful song with soft music, silk voice of Lata & Raft. I would also like to mention 'daiya yeh mein' for the sheer energy of Asha in the song & RD magic.

Sanam Teri Kasam

Sanam Teri Kasam  (1982) - Music Review
Lyrics - Gulshan Bawra
Music - R.D. Burman

  1. Jaan e jaan o mere - Asha Bhonsle & R.D. Burman
  2. Kitne bhi tu karle sitam - Kishore Kumar
  3. Kitne bhi tu karle sitam - Asha Bhonsle
  4. Sheeshe ke gharon mein - Kishore Kumar
  5. Dekhta hoon koi ladki - Kishore Kumar
  6. Jaana oh meri - R.D. Burman
It's unbelievable but true that RD got nominated more than 10 times but got his first Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Sanam Teri Kasam beating competion from Khayyam for Bazaar, Laxmikant Pyarelal for Prem Rog, Bappi Lahiri for Namak Halaal and Ravi for Nikaah.

About the music of this film, well everyone including me loves 'Kitne bhi tu karle sitam' but I like 'Jaan e jaan oh meri'. This is RD special. The music, Asha's voice, melody, a song much more advanced than those times.

Sunny

Sunny  (1984) - Music Review
Lyrics - Anand Bakshi
Music - R.D. Burman

  1. Aur kya ahed-e-wafa - Asha Bhonsle
  2. Jaane kya baat - Lata Mangeshkar
  3. Meri yaad aayegi - Lata Mangeshkar & Suresh Wadekar
  4. Aur kya ahed-e-wafa - Suresh Wadekar
  5. Hum aashiq hain - Suresh Wadekar & Anand Kumar
Another briliant composition by RD. Sometimes I wonder how he went on creating hit after hit and everytime something new. Though I like both the version's of aur kya ahede wafa, my favourite is 'Jaane kya baat'. A classic ghazal, great lyrics by Anand Bakshi, Lata great as always and the RD touch.

    Teesri Manzil

Teesri Manzil  (1966) - Music Review
    Lyrics - Majrooh Sultanpuri
    Music - R.D. Burman

    1. Aaja Aaja - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
    2. Oh hasina - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
    3. O Mere Sonare - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
    4. Tumne mujhe dekha - Mohd. Rafi
    5. Main inpe marta hoon - Asha Bhonsle & Mohd. Rafi
    6. Deewana mujhsa nahin - Mohd. Rafi

I like most of the songs apart from 'main inpe marta hoon', but my favourite is 'Oh hasina', the song proved RD's creativeness. Introducting elvis like rock to indian music and making it a great song. Not to forget the rendition of Asha & Rafi.

In a way 'Teesri Manzil' is a new beginning for RD as well as for the entire hindi film music.

    Aandhi

    Aandhi (1975) - Music Review
    Lyrics - Gulzar
    Music - R.D. Burman

    1. Is Mod Se Jaate Hain  - Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar
    2. Tere Bina Zindagi Se - Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar
    3. Tum Aa Gaye Ho - Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar
    4. Salam Kijiye - Mohd. Rafi, Bhupendra & Amit Kumar

The Gulzar & RD combination always created magic and in Aandhi also they are tremendous. I like all the three Lata & Kishore duets, but 'tere bina zindegi' is my favourite. It's RD special, Gulzar's class and added to that the dialogues of Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen, just too great.

Anyone who has never understand that to produce a great song there should be a combination of music director, lyricist & singers, listen to all the songs of Aandhi.

    Jesus to a Child

    Jesus to a Child - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akczg65Qj8U
    Album - Older
    Singer - George Michael - http://www.georgemichael.com/
    Year - 1996

This is one of my favourite song of George Michael. It has a calm feeling and I suggest try listening to this song before wake up in the morning or while sleeping in the night, you can easily feel the cool effect. Apart from that the lyrics, music and of course George Michael, just great.

    Lyrics -

    Kindness in your eyes
I guess you heard me cry
    You smiled at me
    Like Jesus to a child

    I'm blessed, I know
    Heaven sent and heaven stole
    You smiled at me
    Like Jesus to a child

    And what have I learned
    From all this pain?
I thought I'd never feel the same
    About anyone
    Or anything again

    But now I know
    When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
    Will come to you
    On those cold, cold nights

    When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
    Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight

    Sadness in your eyes
No one guessed, or no one tried
    You smiled at me
    Like Jesus to a child

    Loveless and cold
With your last breath you saved my soul
    You smiled at me
    Like Jesus to a child

    And what have I learned
    From all these tears
I've waited for you all those years
    And just when it began
    He took your love away
    But I still say

    When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
    Will come to you
    On those cold, cold nights

    When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
    Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight

So the words you could not say
    I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
    I'll make it for two
    For every single memory
Has become a part of me

    You will always be
    My love

    Well, I've been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
    Is always by my side

Oh the lover I still miss
    Was Jesus to a child

    Nokia X2-01

My review of Nokia X2-01, which I have been using since March 2011.

    General details:-

Available colours: Red, Deep grey & Silver.
Integrated mails, communities (Facebook, Orkut & Twitter).
    Camera - VGA
    FM, Music Player, Bluetooth, Internet.

    Review:-

I liked the qwerty keyboard. It works well, though VGA camera is not a good option, but I have taken pictures and gone for video shoot and it gives better results than a normal VGA.

Sound is fine but the default headset can be upgraded for better sound output. I was disappointed that, there was no USB cable provided, because it's the only option through which one can update his phone software. I am used to listen music for longtime and battery back up works well. Browsing is fast enough. Not to forget OVI store and its endless free downloads, themes, wallpapers, ringtones, games, it's just great.

    My rating - 3.5/5

    Libaas (1988)

Libaas is a movie made in 1988 by Gulzar. It stars Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Raj Babbar, Utpal Dutt, Sushma Seth & Annu Kapoor among others. The film was never released in India, I believe due to some censor issue.

But I strongly believe that now it should be released in India, as the current society will have no issue with it's release.

It had great music by the great R.D. Burman (pancham), specially Khamosh sa afsana by Lata & Suresh Wadekar & Sili hawa choon gai by Lata are my alltime favourites.

Please Gulzar saab, try to release it.
