The songs that made history and look at the number of songs, a whopping 12tracks and still you will have difficulty in finding the best one as all of those tracks are music hits. I love all the songs and specially 'awaaz de kahan hai'.

Naushad

Born on 25.12.1919
Died on 05.05.2006

One of the maestro's of Hindi Film music, Naushad was the first recipient of 'Filmfare Best Music Director Award' for his film Baiju Bawra. He was a master of using classical songs.

His first film as music director was Prem Nagar (1940).

Amazing facts :-

He was the first to use a 100-piece orchestra - Aan (1952).
He recorded an entire song without the use of orchestra - Uran Khatola (1955)
He used a chorus of 100 persons for Ae Mohabbat Zindabad - Mughal-e-Azam (1960)
Naushad is also one of the few music directors who have scored music for almost 15 movies of Dilip Kumar.

From today onwards, I will review Naushad's music as well as my favourites with you.

I am always surprised as to why a music director works with many lyrics writers but produces his best with few and vis-a-vis. RD, Gulzar gave us great songs and the same with Madan Mohan & Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.  You will love all the songs, great duet 'aapne apna banaya' by Lata & Mahendra Kapoor, the solo songs of lata are also good ones, especially 'maine rang li'. My favorite though will be 'ek haseen sham ko' what a song, pure genius of the combination of Madan, Raza Mehdi Ali Khan and of course the one and only Mohd. Rafi.
